Our Story
The story began on the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, trading at the gyspy markets. Now based in Cape Town, with stockist all over the world.
Ètnica, meaning ethnic in Italian, pays homage to the Native Khoi San South African and Italian roots of the founder, retired stylist, Kaylene West Maresica. After a successful 20 year career as an international fashion stylist. Kaylene started what began as a passion project but soon grew into an eclectic afro-bohemian brand.
Ètnica embodies a unique combination of deeply rooted Royal African ancestry with a fiery Mediterranean flare. Every piece is a one of a kind, handmade only by Kaylene herself. We are sustainably produced in Cape Town using responsibly harvested semi-precious stones and other natural materials from Southern and West Africa.
Ètnica has operates predominantly as a mobile store, trading mostly at music festivals. We have to date attended over 80 music festivals locally and internationally.
Ètnica is more than a brand. It’s a community, a culture, an energy, an anchor to a perfect moment in time, a tangible energy divinely encompassed in a piece that you will treasure forever.
